Pasta Salad HELP!!!!

So, my SIL makes a basic pasta salad that has tricolored pasta, I THINK sald dressing of some kind, mozzerella cheese, some vegetables..... it's just a basic pasta salad, I guess. I just have no idea how to do it!! Is it just Italian dressing? Do you have to do anything before you dump the dressing in? I am sooo clueless, and my SIL is on vacation so I can't even ask her.

HELP!!!!

Re: Pasta Salad HELP!!!!

I just use plain old Italian Dressing (i.e. Wishbone) for my pasta salads.

Re: Pasta Salad HELP!!!!

I like a basil vinaigrette for pasta salads in the summer:

Good bunch of basil
a couple of cloves of garlic
Olive oil
A splash of balsamic vinegar
Some Red wine or apple cider vinegar
Salt
Pepper

Put it all in a mini-prep and let her rip until it's smooth.

My girlfriend uses the Good Seasons Basil vinaigrette and adds some chopped fresh basil to the salad itself. It's pretty good!

I use Good Seasons packet, and add a teaspoon of sugar to it. It always comes out delicious.

Re: Pasta Salad HELP!!!!

How much Italian dressing do you use per pound of pasta? ANd can you use the dressing with the cheese?

Re: Pasta Salad HELP!!!!

I personally never really measure. I just put it in until all the pasta is covered. Yeah, it's good with the cheese dressings. I often sprinkle parmesan cheese on mine as well.

I just use extra virgin olive oil and some red wine vinegar...mix it together in a seperate bowl and pour over the pasta salad. Then toss and chill. :)

me too...you just keep putting and tasting to see if its good...the pasta absorbs alot of the dressing so make sure you put a good amount. Chat Icon
