Passport Name Change
I got married last October and changed my name on everything with the exception of my passport. I flew to Thailand in November and London in March without any issues. I just book the flights in my maiden name and carry my old license with me for a second form of ID. I also have a cc still in my maiden name for when I travel. Is this eventually going to become a problem? I'm guessing that I'll be ok until either the passport or the license expire right? Anyone have any experience with this?

Re: Passport Name Change
I got my passport for our honeymoon in my maiden name, since I changed it within ONE year it was FREE so I did when we received the marriage certificate.

Re: Passport Name Change
I don't have that option, this passport I've had since 06. I just want to leave it, I just hope I don't run into any issues.

Re: Passport Name Change
My passport has always been in my maiden name. As far the driver's license, I don't recall ever having to produce it at the airport when traveling internationally. Your passport alone should suffice.

Re: Passport Name Change
Remember no one at the airlines knows you are married, they don't care about your marital status. They only care that the name you book your ticket in, matches the bane on your passport.
Until your passport expires, just keep booking flights in your maiden name to match it. I was married in 2007 and mine doesn't expire until 2012. Rather than pay for a name change an then renew it again anyway in 2012, I opted to keep it as is and booked any international travel in my maiden name. There is never any issue because like I said, the airline could not care less whether you are married...it's all about matching the ticket to the passport.

Exactly this. As long as your ticket matches your passport, you are ok. I use my maiden name professionally and my married name socially. Some things are in my married name, some in my maiden name. My passport is in my maiden name and I've never had an issue.

I got a new PP the yr before I got married and missed the 1 yr deadline to have it ammended... I just book flights in my maiden name so it matches .... never had an issue... Why pay all the money for a new one when the old is still valid

They don't ask to see both but just in case anything ever happened I just didn't want to have mismatched IDs on me. Probably wouldn't matter, I just worry about this kind of stuff

What is a lissance? Do you mean a license?
If that is what you meant, then yes i would have the name changed because i almost missed my international flight on JetBlue earlier this month at JFK because the TSA agent asked to see my passport and license along with my boarding pass. The name on my boarding pass had my shortened first name (ie Liz instead of Elizabeth) and my passport nor license reflected that..if my license didnt match my passport, i may have had to produce my marriage certificate (which i didnt pack).
Its just better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Passport Name Change
I was told to just bring your marriage license (or a copy) with you so it shows your maiden and new name that way you're covered. I too have an old passport and all my new IDs have my married names.
To be honest I've only had one person check it that closely. In the beginning I was at the check points with my passport, ID and marriage license explaining the whole thing (this is my married name, this is my maiden name, etc.) But now I just go through and show my passport. If anyone questions, which has happened only once, then I pull out the marriage license and go through the story.
