PASSPORT ISSUE
DH and I went away in November and my passport didn't scan on the computer right away, the rep got it to. Then we when left Jamaica, the passport didn't scan again and we had to go to the customer service and the rep had to manually enter it in. I am born citizen and on our honeymoon we didn't have this issue in 2012. My passport is from 2007.
We are going away next month to Punta Cana. I am nervous about this happening again.
Any ideas?

PASSPORT ISSUE
I would have maybe requested a replacement. Could it have been damaged at anytime? I wouldn't want the risk of it not scanning and having problems leaving/entering the country.

They should always be able to enter the information in manually if need be at any location where you need it to read. It happens a lot actually and shouldn't be a big deal other than having to wait in line rather than using a kiosk.

This! I would not stress over it as long as it is a valid passport. There are many reasons it might not scan. That is why they can enter it manually.
