Party planning slacker mom
Meg's 1st bday is now less than a month away and no party is planned.
By this time Connor's 1st bday was planned with nice invitations, my fav restaurant booked, wish list made. Now for my poor little girl nada.
I have no desire. I have no idea where to have it and it this point it's getting late to do anything at all It's all been too stressful to think about it.
I've sort of come on on this site that my marriage has been crumbling for several months now . DH is rarely around and when he is, is nasty to me so to celebrate our family seems hypocritical This is also a hectic, stressful time at work.
I wish I could think of something small, but still nice for Meagan. I can't do only family since we have no extended family to even make it at all festive.
I'm just done- miserable at home, stressed at work now I feel like a bad mom on top of it all.
This started out as a party vent and turned into a pity party for one

Re: Party planning slacker mom
My mom's starting chemo 2 weeks before DS's 1st birthday, so definitely not a time when I feel like celebrating either. We're doing just family (less than 20 people), a hero, cake, apps, nothing huge. You know your DC won't remember this one anyway.

Oh my heavens, many parayers for you and your family
I know, she'll never know the difference. I just wanted her to have a nice day.

Do you want to do it at home but maybe cater it? See if Ben & Jerry's can bring an ice cream bar and set up,too?
I didn't know DH was getting to being nasty now Will he even be around or will he have somewhere to be?
If you need help with this, or just support, let me know. We miss you!

Oh Sam, I am so so so so sorry that you are even going through this.
I can only imagine how it's the last thing on your mind.
I think you have to do what you're comfortable with, even if that means just taking the family to the Aquarium for the day. She'll never know or remember so don't worry about that!

First
and I second the idea above, just something low key, that you're comfortable with...she will never know, but you'll still get to bond with her

Re: Party planning slacker mom
Sounds like you're going through a tough time. I thought I would have a party for my 1st DD's christening, but financially and emotionally i just wasn't into it, so I decided to give her a big first birthday party.
If I were you, I wouldn't stress it, have your immediate family and maybe some close friends w/ kids over, order a pizza and a cake. You can always plan to go big next year!

Thank you for your kind words, Diana
I'm a mess, sitting here in my classroom trying not to lose it.
A year ago, I thought about planning her perfect bday and never dreamed that I would be this miserable

I agree. A day at the aquarium or even the park. Do something you're comfortable with. For DD's Bday, we (the 4 of us, my inlaws, dad, sister and nephew) simply went to Friendly's for dinner.
A week later, we did have a party, but a rather small one with immediate family and very close friends.

Re: Party planning slacker mom
Okay, here goes. You and Meagan wear your matching Lilly dresses. Sabrina and I will wear ours. Your friends with boys can just make sure they are clean and we can all go for tea
I do agree, though, not to stress. It is not the birthday she will remember. Oh yeah, Linda didn't go through with Little Marc's party this year since her dad just died.
Something small this year and hopefully you will be in a better place next year and can have something bigger.
Seriously, though, reach out to me if you need me. I may be crazed now, but I can always help you in assorted ways.
Like spamming a post with emoticons until you smile.
And to your DH.
And just because you need it
