Parents try to sell baby on eBay
BERLIN, Germany (AP) -- Police in southern Germany say they have removed a seven-month-old boy from his parents after they tried to sell him for one euro (US$1.57) over eBay.
Krumbach police spokesman Peter Hieber said baby Merlin has been put in care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region and was doing well on Saturday.
Authorities have launched an investigation into possible child trafficking against the parents.
Hieber said the mother told police she had only intended the Internet ad as a joke. No offers were made for the child in the two hours and 30 minutes the ad was posted. Ebay deleted the posting afterward.
Several people who saw the ad alerted the police.

What sick fkers.. what kind of joke is that.. there are alot of freaks out there that do awful things to children.. theres no joking. I seriously would love to slap this lady in the face.

It had to have been a joke.
I mean - in the midst of a huge tantrum I have told my friend "Take them! Free! I'll pay you!"
I think it was stupid to put the offer on eBay - but fact that they put the price at 1 euro makes me think it was a case of the parents not realizing that they had taken the joke a step too far.

I'm sorry I have to laugh. I've often made jokes about bidding my 8 year old DD on e-bay! It's was something I joked about b/c there's days when she thinks she 8 going on 18 BUT never ever woudl I do it EVEN as a joke!
But this post did make me laugh.
If it's true then that's horrible but I have a good feeling that it was a joke........I hope.
