Painters!
We are renting a house in Wantagh and we were told the bedrooms would not be painted. We could paint them ourselves if we wanted...All the painters said that the landlord is suppose to paint the place before new tenants move in... Is that true?
We had 3 estimates yesterday to paint 4 rooms at our new place. It is 2 small bedroom, no ceilings, 1 medium bedroom with closet, no ceiling, and the top half of a large room. The first guy said 2150.00...That is almost one months rent.. The 2nd guy said approx 800 and the 3rd guy said 850. Without paint.. We got a call from the 2nd guy last night saying it would be 700 without paint. This morning we got a phone call from the 3rd guy saying it would be 600 without paint..What is the going rate for painting?

Re: Painters!
call Richie.. he will do it for you and it'll be so inexpensive and such a great job that you won't believe it.
it's usually standard practice for a landlord to paint but NOT mandatory..

Re: Painters!
Can you do it yourself? It would only cost you a few hundred $$ in paint and IMO is the easiest thing to do in a home.

Re: Painters!
you should not be responsible to paint.. I myself being a landlord would never ask, expect or refuse to paint a room in a house that I am renting out.
Is that you do not like the color? or were the bedrooms just sheetrocked?

We were going to do it, but we ended up getting a pretty good deal...There is so much going on that none of us have a lot of time to paint.. It would take days for us to get it done. We are getting it done professionally on Monday and it will take them one day..

Two of the rooms had touch ups done and some sheet rock put up. The pain in one room is good but it is purple!!! Not going to work.. And the other room the paint is just not the right color for my Mom's room..We got paint at Lowes tonight and it is getting painted professionally on Monday... The landlord may take it off the rent because he has been slacking on getting the rest of the house ready for us! We are going to talk to him ASAP!!! Thanks for the info!!!
