Painful Poops
Might be TMI - DD was a routine morning pooper prior to New Years. I have no idea what changed, but she's all bound up. No poop all weekend. Monday & yesterday she was pushing for 10 minutes and finally released a big hard ball...but there was a little blood :( so I'm getting worried. I've put prune juice in her milk and she eats tons of veggies. Any suggestions? Poor little bottom....

Use a pediatric fleets liquid suppository to help her get the rest out.

Painful Poops
how old?
AJ calls them pokey poos. Its not the veggies per se but more fiber so I make sure she's high in fiber. I also agree with BART system as far as things that bind. Bananas, Apples, Rice and Toast. I steer clear of them for her.
She'll eat bread all day and night if given a choice. So we have to reduce that. For a while there we reduced milk and subsituted with yogurt and cut out all cheese.
Still we have been known to give her shots of prune juice to help things along. Just those cups we never use from cough syrup (we use a syringe) and fill it up and she'd drink it down.
It never made her poop fast just kept things moving. Girl could/can drink 4 or five full cups of that size and still not rush to the bathroom!

Re: Painful Poops
Thanks ladies...She's 22 months. I remember the BART system from when I was younger. She too can eat bread and cheese all day, so I'll be sure to keep an eye on that. I just don't want it to 'hurt' and hope they loosen up soon!

Re: Painful Poops
My DD has major poop issues for a while now. I use Miralax in her water on a regular basis to keep her from getting constipated. It seems every time I stop it she ends up with issues so for now I do it every day. I also make sure she gets her fiber -- regular prunes cut up and raisins are great sources too. We've also had good results with Pedialax Fiber Gummies. DD thinks they're candy and they give her an extra dose of fiber so it's a win-win. Good luck!

Re: Painful Poops
This happens to DS when he drinks too muh milk and too little water. I try to offer him more water during the day and that usually helps.

I second this... AJ knows she has to drink lots of water to help with pokey poos too.
To her, too much milk, bread, cheese and fried stuff 'gives me pokey poo" and lots of water, brocolli and fruits help her 'tummy'
She's 4 and still doesnt drink anything through the day other than water. She drinks some watered down juice at home (still at 4 I water it down) and has FINALLY Dropped that last bit of milk for bed time.
But yes milk hurt her tummy. water, water, water.

I second Miralax! My 2.5 yr old has the same issue. My ped told me to give her half a capful every day and it has worked wonders!

DS used to take benefiber. He's 5 and still has some issues.
Also, we call them pellet poops. I don't "water down" DS juice I "make more" (by adding water) - he's fine with that.
