Pain in arm....feels like a sunburn

Last night I felt my arm and it was painful to touch....almost like I had a sunburn. This morning it's in the upper part of my arm too. I burnt my finger yesterday on the toaster....could it be related? Who should I see for this? I feel like my regular Dr will just refer me to a neurologist which will take several weeks for an apt. Would you go to an urgent care? ER? Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

I have experienced something like this, so has my husband. We have discussed this. For example a part of your skin may feel extremely irritated or burnt. I have no idea what causes this but it usually goes away in a day or two. I usually will apply some lotion and it gradually goes away. I have no idea what causes it but have felt it.

I also want to add, I would not think it's related to your finger getting burnt. I have experienced this too often and not related to getting burned. But I am not a doctor, so I don't officially know.

Is your arm warm to the touch? Is there any streaking? Those are signs of a blood clot.

What do you mean streaking? My hand actually looks a little red in spots.

I would see a doc asap, sounds like a possibe bloodclot. I wouldnt want to risk it.


Signs:
Swelling, usually in one leg (or arm)
Leg pain or tenderness often described as a cramp or Charley horse
Reddish or bluish skin discoloration
Leg (or arm) warm to touch

I had a blood clot in my arm. Didn't feel like a skin irritation it was a 'deeper' pain. Like I pulled something (crampy).

But, it cant hurt to go if it keeps on. They can give you a Doppler to find out for sure.

A blood clot was the worst pain in my life. Its its just surface pain I would think more of reaction to something.

What about shingles? You often feel tingly and weird before a shingles outbreak...

I get what I just call "skin patch" for many reasons. It used to be only when I was coming down with something. I'd get skin patch (feeling of sunburn to the touch) on my thigh or back in one or two spots and then a day or so later, I'd come down with something. Now I get it when I'm tired, getting AF or Ovualting. Pretty much any disruption in my every day life, a skin patch will appear. Stress has been a big trigger for me.

Drs could never explain it. I'm always told I am very In tune with my body. I feel everything way before it can even be scene/diagnosed. My nerves are sensitive.

Lucky me.

If there is no discoloration in the skin (bruising, swelling, etc) it could be a nerve going haywire.

Just to show how it could be diff

I had a blood clot in my leg and walked around for a week thinking I had a Charlie horse

It wasn't until I woke up and my foot was 10xthe size I knew it was something else

I had something similar in August. I went to the ER because I thought I had a blood clot in my leg -- painful, red, warm to the touch, and swollen. Ended up I had cellulitis. After a course of antibiotics I was fine.

You should get it checked out just in case.
