Re: Packing for a trip

I think I'm a recovering over packer!!! I actually wore 99% of what I brought on my last vacation.
Some things that help me:

-try to stick to a color scheme to reduce shoes - for example if all your dressier stuff can be worn with black shoes then you only need one dressy pair but if you have outfits that require black, brown and silver than you need 3 dressy pairs

-be prepared to rinse out bathing suits and undergarments - it takes only a few minutes and stores sell convenient travel packets of detergent for this purpose

-bring things that can serve double duty - for example if i bring more than 1 purse then the spares get used to hold jewelry or other small items

- i find rolling my clothes instead of folding them saves room and prevents wrinkles (put like items together before rolling - like roll a pile of tee shirts together)

Re: Packing for a trip

The best thing I've learned to do is pack only one pair of dress shoes and then pack outfits that only match those shoes. It cuts down on clothes and shoes. I also try to be realistic- ie: I always bring sneakers on vacation yet I've never worn them. So now I just don't bother.

Re: Packing for a trip

I am an overpacker but now I try to pack less if I am going someplace where I know I can always buy something if I am in a jam. I like having "stuff" from trips anyway.
