packing bottles for daycare

DD will be getting 2-3 bottles of formula at daycare in 2 weeks and I'm just thinking ahead. Do you make the bottles ahead of time or just provide the bottles and powdered formula for daycare person to make? We bought those 4 oz single packets that we've been using at home this week. I was thinking of just throwing the bottles in the bag and the packets too, that way they don't have to warm up the bottles either. What do you do?

I BF but my daycare said I have to send the bottles in made. I don't think they'll prepare it for you.

Re: packing bottles for daycare

Hmm okay. My aunt is watching DD 3x a week so I don't think she'll mind but I'll have to check. As for monday and friday she'll be at another woman's house where there will be other kids. she'll probably want them made im guessing. Will bottles of formula be okay in an insulated cooler bag all day?

Oh, maybe she'll make them for you - how many kids does she watch? I'll be using a center so they're probably stricter about it.

The bottles have to be made beforehand. I think that's pretty standard.

Legally I don't think they are allowed to prepare it for you. I am sure some bend the rules but mine said even if I pre-measure the powder no. They want it mixed ahead of time.

She can put them in the fridge and warm them as needed

Re: packing bottles for daycare

IMO i would just make them the night before, put in the fridge, bring them in the cooler bag and transfer to fridge

IMO bottles will not stay good all day in the cooler bag

Re: packing bottles for daycare

I just keep the formula at daycare and bring in clean bottles every morning. They make the bottles for me using filtered water.

Re: packing bottles for daycare

My daycare is willing to make it for us but we make it ahead of time. DS has a milk protein allergy and with all he has been through I want to make sure that it gets mixed with the bottled water that we always use. Also, my daycare provides formula for some kids and I do not want them to make a mistake and fill his bottles with their formula, which has a milk base. So far this has worked out for us and we are used to it now. I think that their written policy says that we have to make it anyway, but the teacher said she'd mix it. Oh, FYI, we leave an extra can there just in case.
