I do, too... BUT it depends how much, actually OT I've done. If I've worked for 5 days str8 until 8pm, then I'll get comp days (off). If I worked until 6:30, on a couple of days, then I don't sh*t!

"comp time" is not legal unless you work in the public sector.

For the "exempt" employees in the private sector: your schedule mean you work until the job is done.

Re: Overtime Spinoff

I don't get paid OT nor do I get comp time.

Even though I am an exempt employee, I cant just leave when my work is done if that happens at 11.30am. My company requires that I basically work according to my schedule. But honestly there's always something I can do even if I am choosing not to on a particular day.

But I have never been told NO when I asked to leave early or come in late and of course, I am not docked or charged time for that time.

Public: government employees (town hall, court clerk, sometimes teachers will fall into this category, mailperson ,

private employees are pretty much everyone else: big companies, etc.

Sometimes manual workers who are part of a union will have extra provisions outlined in their CBA (collective bargaining agreement) for things that other employees would not normally get (maybe an extra 15 minute break here and there)

For the "exempt" employees in the private sector: your schedule mean you work until the job is done.

So, if you work late on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, but finish up early on Thursday, your employer should not have a problem with letting you go home early. However, most companies will not and that just sux.

We don't get comp time either, but I'm management, so I have to set the good example by working myself to death!!

I've always let my employees "flex" around the long weeks we have during some points in the year, whether it's just telling them to go homw early on a Friday and I stay or telling them to sleep in and come in late the next day.

Re: Overtime Spinoff

I do not get comp time or overtime but I do hope that all the hours I work helps out when bonus time comes around. I average about 11-12 hours a day at work not including travel time.
