Re: Our grazz...
We just had our entire lawn leveled out - then we put soil down and THEN grass seeds. I am obsessed with the lawn and so is my DH. It is now starting to really grow in.
Do you already have grass there and it just looks like sh!t or do you need to put down seeds?
I can't wait for it to be completely grown in!!
Also - does it get enough water? Do you have In ground sprinkers? If it's not getting enough water that could be the problem.
As you can see I am obsessed with this topic. I just put more seeds down last night in hopes that it will grow in by Father's Day.

Re: Our grazz...
What are your conditions....full sun, full shade...partly shady? Etc.
That will determine what type of care is required.

Re: Our grazz...
oooh a Lawn thread....Can I jump in Please....
My house is Wierd. In the back we have Full Sun all the time. The grass is dry and in some spots yellow thanks to my dog, Tiny.....
In the front it is part shade / Part Sun....And It was just starting to look good before the pavers came and put all their supplies and equipment on there. I had new seed growing in and now nothing...It is dry and looks blah.
I had put down weed killer in the front and that got rid of the dandellions and most of the crab grass
I have a fertilizer to put down, but I am afraid of my dog eating it. Do you think it is safe to put it down?
As for watering, I try to water....My sprinkler isnt that great - I will put them on tonight. We plan to get inground sprinklers but cannot afford it right now Thanks

Re: Our grazz...
I usually wait like 24 hours after putting fertilizer down, 72 after pesticides before I let Katie on the lawn.
ETA: Scott- Did you put down the Scott's Step 2 then the seeds not too far apart? The Scott's rep told us you need to wait 4 weeks after teh Step 2 to plant seeds. Also, this time of year is a bit warm to to do it. I'm attempting it anyway despite his advice, if it doesn't work I'm going to try again in Sept.

Re: Our grazz...
My DH is a landscape specialist and he put down seed at Thanksgiving. Apparently it's the best time for germination etc Our lawn was cr*ap when we moved in and it came out looking lush in the Spring.
He also cuts it twice a week, never short. He said that cuts the real grass off. And, of course, loads of watering.

Re: Our grazz...
Ugh... our property (I cant even call it a lawn) has every breed of weed ever! We are in the process of tilling a section then seeding and at the same time seeing how well the zoysia grass will grow.
