How far off is it? If Its a recliner can you open the recline part to change the angles? Or maybe remove the legs to give you some extra wiggle?

They tried everything. It is wide and going up the stairs it can not stand up. I am telling him to try the window, He is waiting for a friend. It seems impossible but I am so in need of a coouch I will try ANYTHING at this point.

I don't know if this will work for you, but a friend of mine had a similar problem and they lifted her couch in through a window. And she lived on the second floor. She got it out the same way, with two men upstairs and two men downstairs.

Do you have a window you can get it through.

Our tenants did that, they took the window out and hoisted it up into the 2nd floor, just be careful!!!!

P.S. I never knew you could easily take many windows out, even the big ones, and pop them back in!!!

Re: our couch won't fit into our apt.

First they popped the window out of the frame. Then they tied the couch up in these long strap things with a buckle on them - really hard to explain but my DH keeps a couple of them in the truck for when he ties things to the roof. They had 2 men upstairs to pull and 2 downstairs to guide it.

I wasn't there when they moved her couch in - I was there when she moved out of the apartment so I'm not sure what else they did, if anything, to get it in.

Good luck!

why don't you measure it then find a couch that would fit before you guys start buying couches and none of them fit Chat Icon

oh man good luck!

Have that problem in our place, because it's from the 1902s. We can only fit up the stairs a love seat of futon (because it comes apart)

I had that problem and called a company who actually came and took our couch apart and then put it back together in my apt. It was years ago but I found tham in the yellow pages.

DH & I had this problem in our first place. The next couch we bought the back came off so it could fit through small doorways. Check if the back screws off. If not ask for this feature next time you shop for one.

I have had the couch in our den cut twice already. And it's a sleeper sofa and it came out fine. It was $250 the last time I had it done last year. I think the company was based in Massapequa. I think you'll find it under Furniture dismantlers.
