Oscar Party Help!

Hi all. I've decided to host an Oscar Party, since I've wanted to for years and I figured, why not? So far, including DH and I, there will be 12 people. There are 4 maybe's, so we will be 16 people max. I've never hosted this many people before (not formally anyway) and I am not sure how much we need in the way of food and drinks. I was thinking we would buy a case of beer at Costco, some wine, and I would make one mixed drink like a big bowl of champagne punch. Plus some liquor on the side for people to make their own drinks. For food, I was planning on making 3-4 substantial appetizers (spinach artichoke dip, nachos, chili dip, popcorn), and then buying some already made apps from Costco. Later on in the night if people want more food I was going to order a few pizzas. Does this sound like the right amount of food and drinks for this many people? Any suggestions for something yummy or fun to do? Thanks so much!!

That all sounds great. I also wanted to have an Oscars party- appetizers and drinks but no one wants to come over on a Sunday and we don't have a tv big enough to accommodate such a party so unfortunately it won't be happening.

Anyway for something fun to do... Moviefone's website has printable oscar ballots. It has all the categories and who is nominated on one sheet of paper with little dots you can bubble in who you want to win, or think will win. You can have everyone fill them out and have a prize for the winner or something like that. It's kind of like betting and gets everyone to pick who they think will win or who they want to win and throughout the night you can be discussing it and counting points or whatever. I think I found it at moviefone/oscars but look around there is a great printable ballot.

Thanks for the suggestions! I love the idea of printing out ballots for everyone.

If anyone has an idea if this is even remotely the right amount of food/drinks that would be great. Thanks again!

Sounds great. I'd still order the pizza. And you don't mention anything about dessert. I think that will be good to have and you can also make some coffee or tea for those that may want with dessert.

Good ideas, thanks! I had kind of been ignoring dessert but maybe I will pick something up when I go food shopping. Thanks!
