Re: organic baby formula

I used Similac organic with my older DD because I could get it at BJs and use formula checks...there wasn't much in the way of organic formula that I didn't need to order then, I think only Earth's Best and Similac organic. I know my cousin in northern Virginia buys store brand organic formula, which I couldn't find then.

Re: organic baby formula

I used similac organic for a while, but keep in mind, babies all react to formulas differently and sometimes you have to try and use whats your LO does best on.
I started with Gerber Good Start, the Similac Organic, then Enfamil, then cow's milk at 11m.

There is a pediatric dietitian that frequents these boards and she says its actually not well balanced as some other brands (not organic) are. Her recommendation is Enfamil (I think) and based on her argument I did a few months of Enfamil (not organic)

I don't understand why for those parents who organic milk is so important, why they don't seeks out organic formula. And why there isn't enough demand to foster more competition and better products.

My ped also says Enfamil is better balance for babies than Similac, but he also says it really matters so little in the big picture, and says as long as its a reputable brand and your baby is doing well on it, its fine.

Re: organic baby formula

Baby's Only by Nature's One is a great organic formula. It says "Toddler Formula" because they recommend breastfeeding, but it is suitable for babies as well. I add my own DHA supplement. They sell a powdered version which is fantastic, otherwise you can buy Infant DHA by Nordic Naturals!

Re: organic baby formula

We tried the similac organic but it made my DS constipated. Also, I didn't like it because there was a lot of sugar in it too. I really wanted to give my DS organic formula but I haven't found one that works for him unfortunately.

I Ebf'ed dd for 4 months and when I went back to work I had to supplement 1 bottle a day. We use earths best. It is cheaper at whole foods than wild by nature and cheapest online.

You can buy it at Whole Foods, Wild by Nature or Online direct from them. Their DHA supplement is available online at www.naturesone.com Otherwise if you don't buy DHA from them then I have bought the Nordic Naturals Infant DHA at Sherry's in Babylon. Where are you located?

Re: organic baby formula

I would say be careful with organic, and don't use similac's. Sim organic's second ingredient is cane sugar (almost all similac products contain table sugar), there is nothing natural about putting sugar into a babies formula. Also, similac products are the only one's on the market without the correct DHA levels...
Also...I used to recommend Earth's Best..and I do like their organic's..however it depends on how "orgainic" you want to be...the get most of the vitamins for their products from China...otherwise..I like this the best.
