Ordering First Birthday Theme Party Supplies...
I finally decided on a theme for Thomas' first birthday! See pics!
Do you buy enough plates, cups, napkins, etc. for all guests? Or would you buy enough for kids, and use regular paper plates, etc. for adults?
I'm having the party at home in the backyard. About 50 guest - 15 of them kids.

What I always do? I buy hot cups for everyone to use with dessert, dessert napkins and dessert plates for everyone in the design. If i find them, i'll buy the dinner napkins. And i go crazy with decorating.
Everything else i buy in coordinating colors, cups, dinner plates etc.
ETA: i find that party plates dont really hold up for meals, they soak through easily and aren't very strong, that's why i only get dessert stuff.

For DD 1st bday I bought the hot cups, dessert plates, napkins and lots of decorations and table cloths. I didn't buy dinner plates because they never seem to hold up. I'm doing the same thing for her 2nd b-day in two 1/2 weeks. For the dinner napkins, I bought just a couple packages and then mixed those in with the regular ones.

That theme is so adorable!!!
For Lucas' party I got the plates with the theme design but everything else was just a coordinating solid color (table clothes, cups, utensils, napkins).

I usually buy the theme paper goods for dessert (and you could use them for the kids for dinner) and use the 10" plastic plates for the adults for dinner.

Same here. I use a color in the theme rather than ante up for the character plates. I only buy them for dessert.
