Orange County, NY
I am originally FROM here. Visiting family this weekend, and it's so nice. I feel so much more relaxed than I do when we are "home" on LI.
For those of you who made the move-----what do you do for a living?
This is the one thing that scares me about making a move like this----being able to find a job. I also don't want to have to commute to the city, but may be willing to drive an hour or so.
If it helps, DH also is self-employed in construction. Are there jobs to be had in that line of work up here?
My family lives in the Minisink school district. TIA!

Re: Orange County, NY
We moved up here in 06 - we're in Monroe. My husband has always worked in the city (though he's unemployed right now). It's a tough commute - especially if you are going to commute from even further up in OC. I was lucky and found a job close to home a few months after we moved here, but then I had a baby and stopped working. There are jobs - but I'm guessing they don't pay as well. You could always put out resumes if you are seriously looking into moving up here to see what's out there. You would probably need to go to Middletown, Newburgh or Poughkeepsie to find a better job.
