If you have, say 2 DVR's in 1 home can you record 4 things at once?

Yup.
We have two, one in the living room, one in the bedroom and we can have up to 4 things recording.

Keep in mind when you are recording 2 shows at once on 1 box, you have to be watching a recorded show or watching 1 of the 2 channels.
