OPRAH right now!!!
Elizabeth Vargas is on and they will have the debate between SAHM's and working moms.
I for one, say good for Elizabeth Vargas for making the BEST DECISION FOR HER FAMILY!
IMHO, I do not understand why her leaving set off such a series of negative events.  Why do we have to compete? I work part time because I have to. I made a decision for me and my family and we need to respect each others decisions.
Feminism means we get to make the CHIOCE that is best for us.
ETA: I cannot believe that people wrote into world news tonight (ABC) stating that she was setting the feminist movement back 50 years!  How is it their business if she wanted to quit to have more time with her child? The balls on some people! Even her boss (who is a woman) told her this.

I agree. If you want to stay home, then that is your own choice. Doesn't mean a man is forcing you to stay home. Doesn't mean you are not a feminist. If she wasn't a known figure, no one would care. It's ridicuous.

I think what she did was great! She can afford to do it. She didn't want to be traveling to Iraq and leaving her kids.
I started the same thread on NFR But i'll say what I said there over here 
I would love to be a SAHM but my mortgage says I can't. SO my kids (when they come along) will have a nice house and I will have to work for it!

These topics always annoy me bc there is no absolute answer that works for everyone. I'll wait to comment until I finish watching the show when I get home.

the choice is yours, to stay at home or go to work. the dr that was one with oprah said it well, it is the connection you have with your child and what you do for them and do with them while you are there.
