OPK - line

Why does the OPK results vary so much? I'm only on my 2nd day of testing but here's my results thus far:

Day 1: no color (not even a 2nd line)
Day 2: slight color (you could clearly see a line but it wasn't anywhere close to a dark positive)
Day 3: no color (is i stared long enough my mind would think there's a line)

All test were taken at the same time each day. It's so confusing how it can vary so much. Do you think it was a positive at night and I missed it?

Here's the thing I am only on CD9 (LMP 5/28) and I have an average of a 31 day cycle (AF due 6/26). My LP is 16 days but could it be possible that it's actually 18 days?

TTC can be so draining. I posted on TTC board but may be someone here can answer.

ETA: I use the Answer Ovulation Kit (20pk)

Re: OPK - line

I only tested for one month so I'm no expert but I had a similar experience. I was so sure I was getting close to O'ing and the test would be blank. I also didn't realize that you're supposed to ideally test around 1 or 2 pm (not real easy if you work a 9-5) but noticed that made a difference. My positive opk kinda came out of nowhere and definitely didn't "fade in" over a course of days like you sometimes see online. I would just keep testing. Are you temping also? That is very helpful to confirm when you do O. Good luck!

Being that you are only on CD9 and have a cycle of 31 days, you probably did not miss your surge.

I would try using the Clearblue OPK instead. It's either a smiley face or no smiley face. No stress trying to decipher the test results.

If you want, you can also take the OPK test twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening). That way if you have a short surge you'll definitely catch it.

Yes TTC can be very draining (I tried for over 2 years), but hang in there. It'll all work out in the end.

Good Luck!

Re: OPK - line

I haven't looked into temping yet.

I have read that testing around that time of day will be best so I have my alarm set and run to the bathroom at work to test at the same time each day.

Hoping for a positive result soon.

Would CD 9 be too early for a positive if I have a 29-31 days cycle? Is does seem so early. Just wondering in case I did miss my surge.
