Opinions Please! Infants and Sleep

Looking for thoughts on putting my infant down to sleep.. DD is 7 weeks old and generally sleeps over night in her crib and sleeps throughout the day mostly in her crib but occasionally falls asleep in her swing, or vibrating chair. , If she takes a bottle around 7 or 8pm should I then put her in her sleep sack and in her crib for the night after that bottle until whenever she gets up or should I just put her down like I would for daytime sleep and then wake her up by 10/11 if she doesn't get up herself and give her a bottle and then put her in her sleepsack and into her crib?

Also, with my older daughter I always put her to nap in her swing etc.. and she became a crappy napper, I am trying to get this baby to nap in her crib.. just wondering what others have done and if it made a difference in how their kids napped/slept? Thanks!

I would give her additional bottle at 11pm before you go to bed. They call that dream feed. Then put her down for night.
Also, baby should go in crib...why put in swing when they will outgrow quickly. Get into habbits now

Try not to get them used to motion. If you put her in bouncy chair...then leave her & dont put on vibratraion.

I would put her down as if for nighttime sleep. Create a bedtime routine. I also would never wake a sleeping baby unless there is a medical reason to feed at certain intervals. Baby will wake when hungry and would probably appreciate getting through sleep cycles as nature intends :) For middle of the night feedings I would take my DC out of the crib and sleepsack but would keep everything dim and didn't play or do much talking. After the feeding DC went back into the sleepsack and into crib.

I was pretty disciplined about naps in the crib for the reason you mention about your older child. Probably around 4-6 weeks I stopped doing naps in a bouncey seat and stuck to a nap routine of sleepsack, white noise, close the shades, into the crib. Works great for us.

When DS started sleeping 1 longer stretch at night, which was about 5 hours, we started putting him to sleep for the night closer to when we'd go to bed (~10pm) so his long stretch would allow us to also get a long stretch. Otherwise, I could only get 2 hours at a time and I was not a happy mommy!

As for napping in the swing, DS did that until about 5 months old. Once he learned to roll, he decided that he preferred sleeping on his tummy at night and then that eventually transitioned to his naps, too. At that point he became much easier to put down in his crib.
