Opinions please
So my 7 month old has hi fever goes to 103 and I been giving Motrin but won't break will just go down a little since Monday night. Went to dr yesterday and he said just really bad viral cold. To watch and if over next few days still has hi fever then he will send for chest X-ray but I'm just freaking cause I feel like he is getting worse. He's more congested and still hi fever. What would u do? Wait a few more days or bring to dr again or hospital or what??

Are you giving the Motrin around the clock? And the fever still isn't breaking?
If it is viral, then there isn't much they can do but wait it out. But if you feel like he's having trouble breathing or the fever just won't go down no matter what you do, then go back to the Dr. Go with your gut on this one and trust your mommy instincts. Hope he feels better soon!

Re: Opinions please
I'd wait another day or two. My nephew just had the same thing and the fever would go down and then spike back up. He was only really congested for about a day. He's all better now, it took about a week. There's really not much to do. Give him plenty of liquids and suck out his boogers as much as possible. Hope he feels better soon!!

Re: Opinions please
Runny nose?
Probably viral... so can't do much.
Try calling the Dr's office & telling them the fever won't break (if that is the case). Our ped had DD alternate tylenol & motrin (but DD had a nasty bacterial infection & had no runny nose). Motrin should break the fever, but you have to keep dosing it.
If it looks like he's getting worse since Monday, I would go visit the Dr again.

Re: Opinions please
He had runny nose for a little but now all stuffed up and congested. And I do myb rest to suck out boogies but don't get much and when I did it's yellow and gross. I been doing Tylenol Motrin combo but it only reduces fever a little. Just freaking me out cause now he's coughing too and it's been since monday

A fever isn't a bad thing. It means his body is fighting off whatever he has. When DD gets fevers they're always high - like 105 high. And meds don't always help. Keep him hydrated. Use saline drops to help loosen up the mucus before sucking it out. But, if he is having new symptoms or getting worse over the next day or two, def bring him back to the doctor.

Re: Opinions please
If you feel he is getting worse, bring him back. He is your son and you know him best. Don't doubt yourself. Even if dr says, no he's still fine, at least you will have no regrets
Hope he feels better soon!

Re: Opinions please
With a 7 month old I would go back to the dr. Especially if you hear chest congestion. Hope your doc feels better really soon!

Re: Opinions please
We had the same thing with my ds and he had an ear infection. The ped explained that the ears can be clear at the apt and that night they can be up screaming with an ear infection. I would bring the baby back to get his ears checked.

Re: Opinions please
Have you tried Tylenol too! With a high fever my dr recommends doing every other until fever breaks - every 1-2 hrs (but as long as the same med is distanced the recommended length apart)
Maybe in this case you will find the Tylenol with break it faster!
My daughter gets what you are describing and I agree with previous poster- fever it a sign the body is fighting something! I am sure once it breaks you will see a diff
