I live in Commack so I'm going to say it's the best neighborhood around!!!

We picked that neighborhood over any other because of the location - easy access to the parkways and shopping. We're literally a minute from the Sunken Meadow, 5 min from the NSP or LIE.

It all depends on your commute. DH and I both work in Western Nassau/Queens border area and therefore have a big commute. We wanted something easy.

For us, Smithtown was too far east and can be congested if you're near Main St. We also found that parts of E. Northport are harder to access from the parkway/LIE because you have to travel through local roads to get there. Same for Northport and Greenlawn - too far north and not easily accessible to parkways. Nesconset is further east, but might be easier to access than Northport or Greenlawn.

I would suggest taking a drive during rush hour to see how the roads back up in certain spots. Sometimes going East is easier than being more west, but north. Does that make sense?

Then look into Commack, Dix Hills, Elwood, Hauppauge, Smithtown (be careful about where - it can get very congested in parts as I mentioned)

There are homes in Dix Hills for much more reasonable prices that you might think. The area between commack road and Deer Park Avenue south of the expressway has some areas you may not know about?

Our address is Deer Park, but the next block over is Dix Hills and we are part of the HHH school district. There are a ot of Deer Park addresses wthin the HHH school district....A great location in one of the best school districts on LI, with very reasonable housing costs.
