Open house Sunday - need some decorating help!
Originally we were going to hire stagers, but it just cost way too much ($3k). These are the pictures of the house. What I need the most help with is ideas for decorating the room next to the kitchen, the first picture.
Any ideas??? Image Attachment(s):

I agree Beth! Very pretty. The ONLY things I can see are:
The dining room(I assume thats the room next to the kitchen?) Maybe not--not sure I understand the purpose of that room but all the storage in there is awesome! What about a smaller round table in there and a small seating area so it can be like a library?
The bathroom-while I love it and I love funky colors, may throw some people off. Even though people should be able to see through that they don't...so maybe a paint job there
Declutter Alex's room a bit
Remove the throws and fabric you have in the LR
It really is a gorgeous house

The first pic (what you asked for help on) - I would remove the toys and add a small entryway table against that wall.
Then maybe a leather club chair with a free standing lamp (going along with the PP that said make it library-ish)!
Love your entire house!!! You have such BIG rooms!!!

Looks great. Only change I would make is to put that area rug under the table and chairs in the first picture. Good Luck!

What a beautiful house! LOVE all the windows.
I agree that the only thing I'd change in the first picture is to move the area rug under the table. It will help to define the space as the dining area.
I don't know if that will make the rest of the room feel too sparse, though...

I agree with every post above. And I'm a stickler for clutter so I would also remove DD's kitched st from ur kitchen. Just for the opne house!
It really is a beautiful home. Why on earth are you moving?

We are renovation/adrenaline junkies and get bored easily. We thought having a second child would fulfill our need for constant action, but she's so easygoing that we're itching for a new project.
The house was an aesthetic mess when we bought it and we renovated every room in the house by ourselves. While I do absolutely LOVE the house, I'm ready to move on and tackle our next project.
Thank you so much for all your suggestions! I already took out the little kitchen in the dining area, and I already de-cluttered Alex's room (the pictures are a little old). I think I'm going to take your suggestions and move the rug under the kitchen table and set up a little reading area in the empty space.
THANK YOU!!!!

Your hosue is gorgeous & your style is great. I'd maybe add soem throw poillows to your bed, and put away as many of Alex's toys as you can. (BTW- your house is super clean, for have two little kids!)
In the LR--I would just remove the throw from teh loveseat.
The room next to the kitchen is tough. I can't really tell where it is in relation to the kitchen. Is it all open? or is it through that door way on teh left in the kitchen picture.
does it have a purpose? Is it the EI part of the EIK?
It looks fine, but maybe its function needs to be defined a little more. Set the table? Add a centerpeice?

It is a tough room - it used to be a den next to the kitchen. We wanted a big open space because we knew we'd spend most of our time in the kitchen so we took down the wall between the kitchen and den, and converted the den into our eat-in-kitchen area so we didn't have to use the formal dining room for family meals. It's all open and leads into the kitchen. That doorway is the entrance from the hallway that goes into the eat-in-kitchen area, that then leads into the kitchen.

Re: Open house Sunday - need some decorating help!
Agree with everyone's great suggestions... your house will show great and is beautiful :)
In the basement, only thing I'd do is maybe move the recliner to in front of the radiator to sort of create a sitting space. Can't see the other side of the room, so not sure if that would work, but my initial thought was 'wow that's a lot of open space and a lot of furniture on one wall when the rest is so open"... just to balance it...
I love your kitchen! :)

I would say def add fresh flowers. Trader Joes has had gorgeous tuplis (4.99 for 10). Ive been buying them and putting them in a clear glass pitcher I have. I think some fresh flowers in a couple areas of the house will give it some brightness
