OOS Wedding - gift question
We received an invitation to an OOS wedding (Maryland), that we will be attending. The registry information was contained in the envelope with the invitation. So, is getting a registry gift what is "expected"? Is it "ok" to give money? Is one (gift vs. money) "more correct" than the other?
Thanks!

OOS Wedding - gift question
I think either is appropriate for an out of state wedding. gifts are given more OOS than in NY, but I'm pretty sure money is acceptable.
to answer the question not asked, I'd still give a similar amount to what I'd give in state.

OOS Wedding - gift question
Cash is king. They wont be insulted with cash. Do what YOU want. SO either give cash, or spend the equivalent in a gift.
You are absolutely fine either way.

OOS Wedding - gift question
My BFF married a guy from Mississippi, but they got married up here. The groom's family was appalled at the fact that people gave cash for wedding gifts. All of their people brought gift gifts... I told his dad, "that's what we do up here". He still thought it was crass! I say if the bride and groom/family are from up here, they will get it.otherwise, use your coupons and buy a gift

OOS Wedding - gift question
At out of state weddings, I find most guests give actual gifts as opposed to cash but, cash is appreciated.

I've also heard that cash can be seen as crass elsewhere. BUT, they put their registry info in their invitations, so I'd take their definition of "crass" with a grain of salt!
OP, I don't think you can go wrong either way, really. You could also get a gc to wherever they're registered.
