OOS, did you move where you knew no one?
If you moved where you did not have any friends or family how long did it take you to get adjusted?

yes and it took me 2 years. It wasn't a bad 2 year adjustment, just felt like I was on vacation for that amount of time. We are very happy in our decision- 7 years later.

Yup. DH knew a few people, but no close friends or family nearby.
It is about 1.5 years since I moved, and I am finally not crying every time I leave Long Island after visiting.

yup...knew no one....the first month was really rough....then we had friends from NY move down a few minutes away and once I started working it was much better...its been almost a year here and I'm still adjusting but I like it much better now that we have friends

Yes...not far, but we moved to NJ. My aunt and uncle live about 15 min away but other that, we knew NO ONE.
3 years later, we know most of our neighbors and have made friends through work...but I have yet to make friends in my neighborhood

a few months. i made friends through work and then made a lot of friends once i had my DS through play groups and classes. we've been here for 3 years and it really feels like home.

I didn't move to LI from OOS, but from the Rochester area.
It took me a little bit to get acclimated to the way LIers drive, where everything was, but I didn't make any friends right away, so I depended on my DH (who was my BF at the time).
Once we got engaged, I met some people and started friendships through LIW, so all in all, took me about a year or so.

We have lived here in Illinois for almost 2 years now...feels a lot longer 
But I'm def better then I was when we first moved here. We didn't know a soul when we got here! But ever since I started working I made friends, and we love our neighbors
But I STILL miss my other friends & family on LI

I've moved a couple times to states where I knew no one, or maybe 1-2 ppl. It took about a year to feel adjusted, about 2-3 to feel 'at home' in the new city/state.

We new noone, the first 6 months were rough and I wanted to go back to NY. But, within 1-2 years we were very settled with lots of friends. Now, almost 4 years later I love it and don't think we'll ever go back!

I did not know anyone in NC. I don't think my social life will ever be as full as it once was. I had neighborhood friends, city work friends...cousins and cousins' friends.
As a SAHM...it is pretty limiting.

I moved to Chicago after undergrad, it tookd me maybe 6 months to really get adjusted. I think part of it was I met DH 3 months after moving here and I hung out with a lot of the recent college grads at work.

We moved to Florida a year and 5 months ago. Still haven't adjusted.. I feel like I'm on vacation (besides working 5 days of the week LOL)
Made some friends... but nothing like the ones I had in NY. I miss NY soooooooooooo much, but would never move back. Our families live each about 2 hours from us so we see them often, but I really miss my friends from NY
