One year old - horrible napper!

My daughter just turned 1! She used to nap a total of 2 1/2 to 3 hours a day. Not great, but much better than recently.

In the past week or so, I find that she only naps 45 min. in the morning and 45 min. in the afternoon. She is also up 30 min or so earlier.

what gives? I feel like 1 1/2 hours total is not enough nap time for a 1 year old.

Advice???

Re: One year old - horrible napper!

My son went to one nap (anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 hours) at 15 mos so maybe she is ready for just one nap, and it will be longer (maybe). After the first year, my DS got up earlier and earlier at one point was getting up at 5:00am or earlier, we just went with it and it eventually changed to a little later (not too late, now at 25 mos he gets up at 6:45). One think that worked sometimes was going into the room in the am and telling DS that it was still nitetime and he would go back down for a half an hour or so. I wouldn't be worried that your DD is sleeping less, it goes back and worth on how long and when the nap occurs for the next year I found.
Good luck

Thanks! I thought about moving to the one nap, but there is no way..she is sooo tired after getting up at 6. She generally needs to be back to sleep by 8 or 8:30, so one mid day nap wouldn't work just yet.

i agree with the other poster to not worry too much about it. if there is one thing i have learned in my two big years of parenting Chat Icon is that sometimes you think things are over or are ruined and then your DC goes back to whatever it was they were doing. so chances are this is just a quick phase for some reason and she'll go back to her old ways. i know there are the days when my DD refuses a nap and i freak out thinking OMG she'll never nap again- and of course she does and i'm wrong. hope it gets better for you!
