One more ? for moms who make their own baby food

DD HATED carrots three days in a row. When I looked at the jarred carrots in the store, the only ingredients listed were carrots and water. My FIL thought that maybe the jarred carrots have a lot of water mixed in, and that my carrots may have had too strong of a taste.

Should I be adding more water into my purees? I only added a little to smooth them out. Thank you!

Carrots is the one thing that DD will not really eat. I have to "hide" them in sweet potatoes on occassion, but I usually just dont even bother. I only made one batch of them and am still usuing those cubes on occasion to use them up. After that, I probably will just wait with carrots and try again when she can eat soft foods.

Did your DD like sweet potatoes right away? We tried them today, and while she didn't have a bad reaction (like gagging), she didn't look entirely thrilled either. She made quite a face each time I gave it to her, but managed to eat most of a cube (1 oz).

So far my DS has only had sweet potatoes and he doesn't seem too thrilled with them. Tonught was the 3rd night of them so now we're going to move onto carrots or squash tomorrow!

i was also unsure of the amount of water to add

You just add enough water till it looks like the right consistency. My DD tends to like her food thicker than the purees I see in the jarred foods.

She wasnt to crazy about anything the first couple of times I tried them, but they say it takes up to ten times of tasting the same thing before they decide if they like it or not.

Now she loves everything---except carrots LOL.

You can try to add in some applesauce. After we went through everything once, I started to mix...maybe that would help

A lot of people are telling me carrots were the least liked food of their babies...figures that I tried that one first!
