Once you added oatmeal.....
Did you decrease the amount of formula given in bottles? We were given the go ahead by our pediatrician to start oatmeal last Saturday. We've been experimenting every night since then and 99% of the time, DD spit it out and didn't seem interested. Well last night out of no where she started to actually eat it -- moving her mouth towards the spoon and moaning/complaining when I wasn't providing it fast enough. I'll be giving it to her once a day to start around dinner time, before her bath, and before her last bottle of the night. Is the goal with the addition of oatmeal and veggies/fruits to ultimately decrease the number of ounces they are drinking? Or is this supplemental? My pediatrician wasn't super helpful in answering all of my questions -- more so gave me a list of things to start with, the order to give them in, told me to stick with something for a few days and not to mix so we'd be able to pick up on any possible food allergies, etc. Any insight you could provide about how you went about introducing foods would be greatly appreciated! Also, I'll be feeding jarred foods -- can I switch from brand to brand based on what's on sale that week? Or is it like formula where you should stick with one? I bought a few jars of Gerber to start, but know that there is Beechnut, Earth's Best Organic. I'm thinking that jarred carrots are jarred carrots and brand doesn't matter -- right or wrong?

1. I would keep the amount of formula the same for now. As she gets older, she will most likely start to decrease her intake, but right now she needs it.
2. I switched up the brand of jarred food all the time.

I would make up a bottle of whatever he drank (ex: 8 oz) and pour some in the oatmeal and give him whatever was left. That's what my pediatrician told us to do.

This is what I did as well.

Yes. As she increases her food intake, she will drop one bottle feeding eventually, too but keep the amount per feeding the same. She will have the need for the nutrients. I love to switch up the cereals, too like multigrain, oatmeal etc. they're different flavors consistencies. I make some of my own baby food, but I found that since DDswere little, the variety and selection of foods has exploded and I use a lot of packets, all different brands.

I made baby food from the beginning, but didn't matter the brand when j had to buy, which was whenever we were traveling... I just stuck with organic. Ds never dropped his formula intake until very recently (probably around 9 months) when he went to eating a full 3 meals plus snacks - he is down 1 bottle, to 3 bottles and nursing when he wakes up... Though his week he hasn't wanted to nurse when he wakes and has been good until breakfast. He's always been a very hungry boy and finally at his 9 month visit hit the 50% for weight (he was early and under 25% for a long time). I am so excited he is on daycare provided food because he was going to eat us out of house and home!

We didn't even do oatmeal with our second baby. The pediatrician said the rules have changed, they can start on whatever. We went straight to baby food and no need to wait a few days to start new foods because an allergy symptoms will show up right away. Our DS is 6 months old and has eaten almost every kind of baby food. He still takes 4-5 formula bottles a day in addition to that
