OMG

It was the freaking chicken poxChat Icon

That rash that Ry had on the back of his neck and under his arms around Thanksgiving- the rash that only last 3 days- and the Dr really didnt think it was chicken pox....

Yep- well it was!

The ped. had sent me for blood work to see if he had immunity to the chicken pox- because they dont give the varicella vaccine to those who have had chicken pox, and well they just called and said: all his standard blood work came back fine, but he is immune to chicken pox...

I just cant believe it!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well at least you don't have to worry about him getting the Chicken Pox.

I am surprised the Dr. couldn't tell what it was. Chat Icon

Oh no- the Dr. thought it looked like chicken pox- but what was throwing us off. was the fact there was only like 10 pox total...

Hence why he sent me from the blood work- to be sure-

I wrote off the chicken pox when after 3-4 days the rash was completly gone! I am sooooo shocked!

Re: OMG

Wow! That was scary.

Is there a chance of him getting it again when hes older since he didn't have a bad case of it?? I know that can happen........Chat Icon

Re: OMG

YEAH!!! an answer! LOL

But heres the kicker....Ask the Dr if his body built up an immunity.

I had the chicken pox..same thing...about 3 days when I was 7 months old.

Guess what, got it again at age 14.

The dr's said it must have been so mild, my body didnt recognize it.

Not to scare you , just to be prepared if someday he gets it again and your like huh?

Well thats why we had the blood work done to see if he built immunity-

Because they dont give the vaccination if you are already immune...

And sure enough- his blood work came back saying he is immune- therefore that is how we know he did in fact of the poxChat Icon

See, this makes me think if Julia should get the chicken pox's shot or not? Shes getting it next visit, but if shes going to get it later on when shes older, then I dont understand why they need it?

Now they have to get it before they go to kindegarten (I still cant understand why...)

So Im not exactly sure what they'll right on DS immunizations sheet-Im guessing just that he already had the chicken pox...

I dont think the chances of getting it after being immunzied is high- but I do know a few kids from work who got it even though they had their immunization..
