Okay tell me...am I the only one that does this?
Most of the events we go to are with DH's family. My family is a lot less into parties. And I always like to get a new dress. For casual dresses it is fine. I wear those over and over and get my money's worth. But for fancy cocktail dresses, I usually only wear them once or twice (usually once )
Is anyone else like this? Do you sell your dresses or just keep them in your closet? I even have one dress I never wore, but I have my eye on another dress that I would order if we had a wedding coming up (which is hypothetical since I already have a dress for the wedding we are going to in June ).
Am I crazy? Or just a girl who loves fashion?

ME!
Although I have alot more than 1 that hasn't been worn
I just don't go to enough formal events to wear them all, but when I see one I LOVE LOVE LOVE, I just can't help but buy it in hopes that it will be appropriate for some future wedding or event. Then I will have the intention to wear it more than once, but I find myself using an upcoming event as an excuse to buy a new dress (or two - a girl needs options), even though I have unworn ones or ones that were only worn once.

I’m not going to say I’ve never had a fancy dress I’ve only worn once…I definitely have. BUT I usually try to get multiple wearings out of my fancy dresses. We have events for both of our families, as well as different circles of friends, as well as work holiday parties, formal nights on cruises, and fancy events for DH’s rugby club. Yes I get tempted to buy a new dress every time but most of the dresses that are now in my closet I have worn multiple times without repeating in front of the same audience (except, of course, for DH…but sometimes he likes to see the same dresses again because he likes them!)

ME!! I have a lot of dresses. Although it works out well with my girl friends who like to look through my closet to borrow stuff. I also have a very nice dress I never wore. Sundresses are my weekness! They call me out when I'm window shopping... so cute, light and colorful. I go in and buy and then think... what am I going to wear this for
I do go to a lot of events between friend and family stuff and then I hate taking pics with DH with the same dress I wore for another event.

My big problem is that of all our friends, like 1 has had a traditional wedding! Everyone else has these non-traditional weddings where a cocktail dress would be way too fancy. Plus, a lot of our friends are unmarried, so we've been to a lot less weddings than most people our age.

Re: Okay tell me...am I the only one that does this?
I re-wear in different circles.
I have 1 dress that wore to DH's family wedding, my college friend's wedding, my boss's wedding & formal night on our anniversary cruise. The only person at all events was DH.
I could still wear it again if there was an event with DH's friends or my family, but those are rare.
I did have 1 dress that I only wore to a wedding on DH's side, but I re-wore it on our cruise.
I have an event coming up where the only people I 'll know are DH & his parents, but I think I may wear a dress I haven't worn to any of their functions, b/c it is the only one I can think of they haven't seen yet.

Go on a cruise! The really long ones have 3 formal nights!

And cocktail dresses are good for that?

Yes! Some people wear gowns & what are clearly bridesmaid and MOB/MOG gowns taht wer sitting int eh back of their closets, but coctail dresses are fine.
I've been on two seven day ones & they both had 2 formal nights & one casual-dressy night.

I have this in cobalt blue. Is this cruise appropriate?

Absolutely! I've only been on Royal Caribbean, but I would wear that to their formal nights.
ETA- Have a convinced you to go on a cruise for the wardrobe options alone?
