ok this is probably a stupid question...but I have a WWYD?

So my family moved to CT in October, and when we left, we left all of our baby sitters (grandparents, aunts & uncles). My kids are in daycare 3 times a week. There is this really great woman who works with the 4 year olds, but at the end of the day when I pick up, she is the one who closes DS's room (he is 21 months). Anyway, I was talking to her about how DH and I would love to get a Fri or Sat night out once a month, but it's hard with all of our family in LI. She suggested her 21 yr. old daughter. She is a senior in college, and used to work at the daycare in the summers from the time she was 16. Lisa (the teacher), said that she would ask her DD, and maybe one night next week the 2 of them would come to my house and meet my kids, and it we clicked I could use her at my once a month date night babysitter. Well she just called me to say her DD is all for it. Is it weird to use the daughter of a teacher at your childs daycare, even if she came by my house with her mother first to meet me and the kids? I told you it was stupid, I just overthink everything! Chat Icon

I think that is better than just finding someone else..you know the teacher..and her daughter worked at the daycare..sounds like a great option!

I would prefer to use the daughter of someone I know, then have to find a stranger to do it. Why do you think its weird???

I don't think so at all. It is the perfect opportunity to meet a great babysitter. EVen better that you can meet first and get a vibe from ehr!Chat Icon

ITA! Try to get a feel for the daughter--I remember my parents left us w/ a neighborhood teen babysitter when I was 6, and she had over boys and was smoking in the bathroom. Chat Icon I still remember this 25 years later...Chat Icon

I have used the daughter of one of the directors of DS preschool. I think it's a great way to meet a babysitter

I think it's great! if you like her, you can use her when you need to run errands and things like that. it's tough not having help (family) around

Thanks ladies! Chat Icon
Yea, I don't know why I find it weird. I Chat Icon at myself sometimes! I guess because my mother was like, well why don't you use someone at the daycare, why use someone's kid who you have never even met? I think she's just upset that she's not the one watching them all the time anymore. Chat Icon
Lisa gave me her DD's cell # though, and I just spoke to her and she is coming by with her mom on Monday night. Maybe DH and I will finally get some nights out! Chat Icon

No, in fact I use my daycare providers daughter and niece. HOnestly, they both rock. Lots of training with her mother.
