Ok so heres my problem
Our family room, and kitchen share walls, so I have to paint both rooms the same color....same thing with formal living room and dining room....we decided to paint the formal living room and dining room navy blue, and leave the hallways beige ( the color they entire house is currently painted)
Should we leave the family room and kitchen beige too? I wanted to paint the family room a really really light shade of blue, but we would have to paint the kitchen that color too, I think that might be too much...
here are some pics of the family room and kitchen and the walls they share...
Opinions please

our LR and DR share a wall - we painted one half shabby chic and one half woodacres
here is a pic of the dividing line, and IMO it looks fine - you can kind of see it on the left side of the picture

I think a dividing line looks really good. In my head, I didn't think so but after looking at your pic...it looks awesome!

Re: Ok so heres my problem
IMO, i would def go with a beige type of color in your kitchen, rather than a blue. if you want to paint the family room and kitchen the same color because of the shared walls, maybe paint them a different shade than the hallways, so you don't have so much of the same beige throughout the house. also, you could think about doing a "finish" on either the family room or kitchen walls... where they would be 2-toned (color washing, ragging etc). then you could paint both rooms one color, and pick a room to do a finish in... so they are coordinated (you could leave the shared wall the one color) but you'll also have 2 different looks. just an idea. btw, your house looks beautiful. eta- in our house, our living room and dining room have shared walls as well, and after going back and forth quite a bit, we painted both rooms as one (but we did split colors on the wall and are putting a chair rail horizontally throughout). we were afraid it was going to be "too much" of one thing, but were very happy with how it turned out.
