OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
I cant believe how hard it is just to decide on diaper sizes and type.
What size do you suggest we stock up on i have a coupon that is 10.00 off and dont want let it go to waste. Then is it swaddlers, pampers, or good ole huggies. LOL who would have thought this would be so hard

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
I suggest you stock up on nothing
Maybe buy 1 or 2 packages of NBs or size 1s. But the hopsital will load you up before you leave.
But my main point is that you don't know a lot about your baby. Like how big he/she will be, how fast he/she will grow, if he/she will react well to a diaper or if a particular brand works for them or not.

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
We bought one package of NB Swaddlers, and one package of Seventh Generation size 1 to have on hand.
But I also plan to take as many as I can get my hands on from the hospital as well.

Take as many as you can from the hospital. I also got some at my shower.
Don't overbuy on any- see how big you baby is.
I loved swaddlers and will use them again for this baby.

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
I wouldn't stock up on much of anything - b.c you don't know which one will work best for you.
DD was never in newborn - she was 9 lbs 4 ozs and the hospital automatically put her in size 1 swaddlers - and that is what they gave us. So you might need newborns or you might not depending on the babies size.
Also at one point DD was pooping out of the swaddlers so I had to switch to baby dry and then we switched to cruisers.
I guess if you really want to have some it couldn't hurt to get at least one package of size one swaddlers - but maybe hold onto the receipt in case you need to exchange them.

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
Emerson was born at 8lb8oz but dropped to 6lbs15oz in the first week then started gaining again. For about 2 weeks she fit into NB size then we moved her to size 1's. At around 9 weeks we moved her into size 1-2's because the 1's felt a little snug. Right now she is 3 months and 12.5 lbs and the size 1-2's are still fitting her well. Don't stock up on too many NB size, they don't last long. Bigger is better, they will grow into them. The hospital used all size 1's with the babies. We use Pampers Swaddlers and they are great!! FYI - The only place I have seen the size 1-2's is online at diapers.com.

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
we're using everything we received at my shower. I have Newborn, 1, 2's. I have a mix of brands right now. Not sure which I'll like. I know we'll have to return a costco size box of newborns because baby dodge is already expected to be between 8.5-10 lbs, therefore he won't really use the newborns. We haven't bought anything ourselves yet.

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
Hi Kerry. You're delivering at St Catherine's, right? They use Pampers Swaddlers. I wouldn't get much of anything at this point. They will stock DC's bassinet drawer with diapers everyday....put them in your bag each day that you are there. They will be the correct size, and it will give you plenty of time to send someone out to get them for you once you are home. Generally speaking, most people end up sticking with the brand their hospital uses, unless they have major leak issues or an allergic reaction.....neither of which are predictable.
You're due so soon! Good luck!

Re: OK overwhelmed.. Where do you start with diapers
I am using pampers swaddlers NB size. My babies are currently almost 7 and 8 lbs respectively. The bigger one will probably move into 1's in a week or so. They are 4 weeks and were born at 6lbs 3 oz and 5lbs 14 oz
