OK now that hes potty trained, I have a few questions

1) he developed a fear of pooping on the potty after doing it a MILLION times. He now holds it in ALL day and then hes miserable and just keeps going "my tummy hurts". I know this is normal, but any tips for getting them over this hurdle?

2) When do you become less panicky in public? LOL, I feel like when we are out, Im constantly like, do you have to pee, how about now, now? No, now? How 'bout now?

3) And my moms of boys....we trained Eddie to pee sitting, when and how do you teach them to stand? And get ready, stupid question alert....did you teach them how to stand and then just move the little underwear flap over on the front or do they still pull down their underwear when standing? How the heck is he supposed to hold it anyway? Im going to have to have DH show him that manuever! Chat Icon

Re: OK now that hes potty trained, I have a few questions

we are newly potty trained here too! Congrats!

We had our first success (which took me by surprise).....we were at Chik Fil A (fast food place) and DS came running out of the play area and said he had to make poops. Lo and Behold...we made it to the potty in time! from then on.....he insisted on undies and we even put him in diapers for a few nights and he was waking up DRY!!! Yea...and this was all last week!

We waited about 4-5 days before venturing out in public llike to Target or something. He has yet to have an accident in public...the few he's had are here at home when he's too involved playing.

We were teaching him to sit and then just yesterday or the day before, he insisted on getting his step stool and pee standing up....don't know where it came from cuz DH doesn't like an audience when he pees.

We pull his undies down for now and he arches his back a little and kind of aims his little winky in the right direction...sometimes he'll not hold it directly but kind of put his fingers near the base to make it stick out more? (does that even make sense???? I am SO tired).

Re: OK now that hes potty trained, I have a few questions

He will just eventually start doing it. For us, I thought it was best to let him know it wasn't ok to go in your pants, (he mostly went in the pull-up we put on at night before bed)but I tried not to make it a big issue.

Once he starts telling you on his own consistantly then you will feel good going out. It sux when you forget to have them go before you leave tho. Just expect added time for trips to the potty. Luckily DS was never the type to constantly say he had to go. If he said it he meant it. We only had 1 public accident and it was about a week after we potty trained and we were on vacation in Lake George.

DS still (a year later) mostly sits, but we have been working on that. Now he stands when we are out. They hold it and TRY to aim. Its pretty cute, especially there little butt. Haha!the first few times he was like an out of control firehouse. It went everywhere. We used cereal floating in the potty for aim and also peeing in the cup part of the kiddie potty when about to get out of the bath (I'd hold it under the stream. Again for aim.
