OK ladies - I need hopeful words!!!!!!!

Oh man.... Cailen threw up all night last night!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

He woke up this morning with a fever - I gave him motrin. So far the last time he threw up was 3AM Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon The motirn kicked in and he is being his wacky self so far, but this really kicked my a s s last night!

He is drinking juice now. I was dumb last night and let him have some milk because he was thirsty, and wouldn't drink juice. So, in a weak mommy moment, I let him have some, and 30 minutes later it all came up.

Poor baby!

I called some parents this morning to cancel my appointments with them, and they assured me he would be better by tomorrow morning, when we go away.

Anyone think he will?

How will he be on an airplane with this? Chat Icon

Re: OK ladies - I need hopeful words!!!!!!!

Give him some pedialyte so he's hydrated.

Stick with the BRAT diet today and just let him rest. Make him eat toast.

If the last time he threw up was 3 am...and nothing so far, seems like the worst may be behind you.

I'd watch the juice and sugary stuff. That could upset his stomach even more.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon My DS just had a stomach bug thats going around---he threw up only on the first day and then had mild diarrhea for a day or two----we were advised nothing by mouth for an hour after vomiting, then start small amounts of pedialyte. I hope he feels better soon!!!!

I hope the worst is over for you both!!

My DS had something similar last week and it lasted about 24 hours. Keep him on a VERY bland diet -- and no dairy. Thats what my ped told us last time DS had a stomach bug and it worked.

Well I think he will be fine but you will have to watch what he eats/drinks for a couple of days. I know when DD had a stomach virus last winter, it took a full week before she stopped throwing up. But it was only if she ate something that didn't agree with her. Being back to himself is definitly a good sign. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: OK ladies - I need hopeful words!!!!!!!

DD had something similar a few weeks ago-threw up at 11AM, at 2PM, 5PM and around 2AM. After that she was fine.

I would go for pedialyte and no milk or juice just to get him hydrated.

Thanks ladies - the juice I gave him was small amounts of water with just enough juice to give it some color - so far so good... some diarrhea, but his mood is back to normal!!!!

He is napping now....Chat Icon

I hope the worst is over for him.

To be prepared, I would try to find a pediatrician wherever you are going now while you have internet access to.

I've been on vacation with a sick baby before. It's nerve wracking when you're trying to get help & you don't know who to talk to about it.

Maddie's 103 fever lasted 3 days. Joseph's 101 lasted 2 days. Make sure to keep him extra hydrated because you naturally dehyrdrate on a plane. I hope it's a 1 day thing for you.

Good idea - I'll do a search!!!! Luckily, my dad said they have wifi in the apartment, and I think he's bringing his laptop, so we will still have access when we are there....

He should be fine for tomorrow. Just remember that the vomiting may turn into diareha, so make sure you have planty of diapers and a change of clothes packed in your carry on.
