Ok - Someone explain to me why 99%........
of insurance companies DON'T cover rhogam shots ?????
Really?
I'm not getting freakin' botox - it's a necessary drug during pregnancy - and once again I have to pay $150 out of pocket for it !! - I am SO peeved - Is it going to bankrupt me? Of course not - but really - The pharmacist insists it b/c the ins companies know you have no other option but to take it - so they just refuse to cover it - Very nice.
You know who covers it? Medicaid - Medicaid freakin' covers EVERYTHING !!
I"m so happy I bust my tush @ work every day
Vent over -

really? did you call your insurance company?
my prescription coverage didn't cover the shot but my medical coverage does so i had to pay out of pocket at the pharmacy but then submit the receipt for reimbursement to my insurance company. it was a bit annoying but not the end of the world.
I have Oxford by the way.

I hate insurance companies. They are scams who just want money. sorry.. but I feel this way about all insurance companies, health, car, etc. They take your payments but they don't want to pay out for things ever.
It's ridic that they don't cover these necessary shots. that's the shot for the blood type thing right?
bastardds!!!
i know it stinks... but at least you do have a job and don't have to be on medicaid and can afford to pay the money. medicaid people are covered for a lot more.. but they also have a harder time finding a decent dr. I have a friend on it and she goes through dr issues left and right!! they don't have it easy either.

That is so strange. It was covered for me (last preg and this one), and I had it done in my doctor's office. Do you think it is because you are picking it up yourself? I wonder why some doctor's don't have it in the office? The nurse gave it to me in the exam room. That stinks! Maybe give your insurance company a call and try to appeal it.

Re: Ok - Someone explain to me why 99%........
they never charged me for the one I got in thee hospital after birth, but yes, the one from the doctor is not covered...I don't know why.
I haven't received a bill from my CVS (3 weeks ago) and will get another after the possible amnio and then another at 28 weeks and then another after birth.
It's discrimination against us rh- gals!

What insurance do you have?
Ive never heard of them not paying for it and I know a bunch of people who had the shot.
I had the shot twice and they were covered both times -- I have GHI

Re: Ok - Someone explain to me why 99%........
I've had to get 2..after the first I was told it's a pre-approval drug and the pharmacist at our insurance backdated and we were credited the difference to the copay...once that approval was in, I had no issue getting the second..

when i went to the pharmacy, they said my doctor had to call the insurance to confirm i really needed it (like i would choose to get it if i didnt need it ) Then they covered it but i had to pay around $30. They make things so difficult.
