Ok - can some explain leukemia to me?
What exactly is it?
What are treatments?
Are there not treatments for it?
All those type of things.

Here is the Wikipedia entry for it.
From what I understand is that it is cancer of blood/bone marrow? and while chemo can treat new, non aggressive cases, more demanding cases will need a bone marrow translplant.
I know a person who passed away because of the complications from the treatments (pneumonia), but not leukemia itself.

My brother is in remission from APL which is a form of leukemia, their are all different kinds ALL, AML, APL and others. A good resource for information about leukemia is www.curesearch.org. When my brother was first diagnosed his doctor gave us this site as to what to expect kind of site.

My brother is in remission from APL which is a form of leukemia, their are all different kinds ALL, AML, APL and others. A good resource for information about leukemia is www.curesearch.org. When my brother was first diagnosed his doctor gave us this site as to what to expect kind of site.

my mom has Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)... (it is the type of leukemia that the woman who writes her diary of cancer in glamour magazine has) She has been very fortunate that her treatment has been in a pill form. She takes Gleevec a drug that was found in 2000. Prior to the discovery of that drug her cancer diagnosis would have bene very serious but since the discovery of the pill she has been in remission, she will never be cured unless she goes for a bone marrow transplant, which has its risks for someone of her age

Thank you everyone.
We just found out that my aunt (my godmother) has leukemia. I don't know what kind or anymore details - but I want to learn as much as I can about it.
