Oil Prices (1/7)
Petro called us the other day to discuss their oil price plan renewal.
This is what they offered.
1. Variable Rate: No yearly contract pricing. Current delivery price is $3.26/gallon. Rate will fluctuate daily depending on the market.
2. Ceiling Plan: Yearly contract from February 1-January 31, 2012. Ceiling would be $3.85/gallon. Current delivery price would be $3.49/gallon as this plan makes you pay .23/more a gallon as you are protected by a ceiling rate.
The service contract for premier plan is $183.41 w/tax.
Can anyone else share what rates they have received this week? Petro stated they can keep this rate until Monday.

Slomins has a $2.99 ceiling. Contract price is about $145.

I locked in with Petro last month so what I locked in at ($3.09) really isn't valid now.
But they did give me a $100 credit and the premier service plan was only $99 bucks. So it was like getting a free service plan.

Yeah, I learned that too. They wouldn't give me a quote last year since Petro had already.

Petro really bothers me so much for this reason. I left them this year and switched to a smaller, local company. I did find out that if you tell them that you are going to leave, they can offer you the service plan for free again. Not sure if you want to try that. I hate the games! I just switched to Taylor Fuel oil. They are a small company that my in-laws have used for years and are very happy with. I am doing variable with them and got a service contract for $125. Not been with them long enough to tell you if I recommend them. I really liked Petro's service, but they were just too expensive.

I prefer to bounce around with companies anyways. Keeps them on their toes.
And yes I would tell them you are leaving to see if you can get the best deal. If not, then just switch.
