Oil burner service without a contract?

My house is propane so I have no idea about oil!

Any recommendations for a company that services an oil burner without a contract?

We've always had a great experience with Accurate Utilities.

We use them for yearly tune-up along with emergencies. Always seem very fair, quick and pleasant to deal with.

It's expensive to get an oil burner serviced without a contract. You're basically then paying for the contract, but without the coverage.

It's like any insurance plan.

You can say the reverse and say that you're throwing money away every year if you pay for a contract and don't have a failure.

I've had my burner for 7 years now and had one incident - 150 bucks. That is much cheaper then paying for and being tied into a service contract with an oil company at a higher oil rate.

Exactly..and he is also paying an astronimical price for the oil and contract together, for the amount he gets delivered for his almost-new burner he is easily overpaying by like 60-70 cents per gallon vs. COD.

Oil burner service without a contract?

I have a private guy who comes out at all hours of the night and all weather. He services our burner every year for between $250-$300. We also do cod. This is the most economical way for us to go. Let me know if you want his info.

We learned this too. I look at it this way..they were charging us $400 and up per year for a service contract and a LOT more per gallon for oil. So let's say we take that $400 and put it aside. If the burner needs service we use that money. If not it's in OUR pocket, not theirs.
So far we haven't had one issue since we got a new top of the line burner 5 years ago. We were throwing money away on that damn contract and not using it.
