oil?

I am new to oil usage and trying to get an idea at estimated costs.

How does filling the tank work? monthly, quarterly, bi annual, etc?

How much do you go through?

What are estimated costs?

we are not in a house, so I know it won't be as high as if we were, but just have no idea how often we will be hit with the filling cost.

Thank you!

Re: oil?

We're trying to figure this out too..
right after we moved in, in early sept, we got the tank filled- i think about 200 gallons and we just paid the price it was at the time, i think 2.399/gallon.
Now we signed with a company and locked in a rate of 2.599/gallon and they are coming this week to fill our tank...thing is we have no idea how much we used..
so we'll find out..hopefully they will be truthful and only charge us for what we need.
We got put onto a budget plan, so we pay the same amount each month, based on what they estimage we might need throughout the year..If you dont do the budget, then you might have to pay a couple of hundred dollars each time you get it filled...which is good if you have the lump sum to pay..
It also depends on how big your tank is..if you have a bigger tank, they wont have to come as often
does this make sense?

that helps a lot thank you! Especially since us to are rarely home from about 6am-8pm and it's only a 2 bedroom cottage, it should be pretty low usage....we hope!Chat Icon

oh wow!!!

See electric now is only like $30 a month, so I figured our new place would be about that too. Pretty much the same size.

You can save even more money by checking your oil tank gauge and paying C.O.D for your oil. My in-laws got a COD delivery last week and paid $1.89 a gallon versus about $2.50 on the automatic delivery... that's 60 cents less a gallon or almost $147.00 less per tankful which can add up to a savings of over $700. a yearChat Icon
