Oh!! The places we're gonna go! (life reflection)
I sit here thinking of what life was like one year nine months ago... not sleep deprived, not a stretch mark to be found, twenty+ pounds lighter and out drinking with my friends until the wee small hours of the morning. But in an instant (May 13th at 5:15am to be exact)... my life changed. Stopping dead in its tracks. After 18 months of trying for a baby, a miscarriage, surgery to make "repairs", an ectopic pregnancy, and holistic health counseling... I. Am. Pregnant. WHAT THE!? HOW THE!? WHEN THE?! Oh my God!
16 weeks (exactly) of nausea, dry heaving... how the hell did the the human race continue if this is what you feel like - without an end in sight??? 25 weeks and 5 days wondering what he'll look like... will he have my skin tone (oh please God... be kind to him), will he have his father's hands (oh PLEASE God... no), will be have my legs (for his sake... please God). So much to guess, so much to dream about.
And, then the day came, January 29th at 12:30pm... "Take your wife out for a nice dinner... this will be the last one you two have as a childless couple. I'll see you guys at 10pm at the hospital." Those words changed everything.
Twelve hours later... holy ****. Is this for real?? You have GOT to be kidding me!
I ask again God, how the HELL did the human race continue??
I revere the wo/man who invented the Epidural... I love you. You are my hero(ine)...
Two hours, 24 minutes later, for the first time, in months, I felt... empty.
Where there was a fullness, now... nothing.
MY job was done... The job was now OURS.
Our son was born. OUR lives have now changed FOREVER.
Logan Joseph Creed De Luca entered the world at 2:54pm on Saturday, January 30th... a healthy 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 3/4 inches.
To say that the last year has had its FAIR share of ups-and-downs would be understatement - but that's what we signed up for.
I now sit here on the eve of Logan Joseph Creed's FIRST birthday... thanking God for all that he has given to me. Thanking God that he kept him in our life.
I sit here watching my son play with his father. Trying to imitate his father... Babbling up a storm while wreaking havoc on our living room... running in circles, pointing at the lamp: "Pret-ty". Calling out for "Tayl-yah"... "Wheh flow-wah?" Trying to find the faults in the corral system keeping him in the living room - like those dinosaurs in Jurassic Park... Joe and I just look at each other and think: "This kid is gonna keep us on our toes... wouldn't have it any other way." Image Attachment(s):

its amazing isnt it..all the ups and downs but yet so much joy.
I said to DH the first bday party should be for the parents and surviving their first year of parent hood..LOL.
