officemate pet peeve
Why the heck can't people chew gum with their mouths closed?
I have to share my office with a summer associate (until Friday AM), and she is chewing gum with her mouth open. That is just so disgusting. One of her fellow summer associates - who is working for me, mind you - came in to check up on something. He was chewing gum and POPPING IT (like bubbles) as he was talking to me.
WTH? This is a high-end law firm. Are they serious?
Okay, vent over. I can't stand listening to people chew, so perhaps I'm more sensitive about this than others are.

I am TOTALLY 100% with you on this. I hate gum chewing and I hate the open mouth gum chewing. The popping is even worse. UGGH. It is so low class, I don't understand why people do it.

Silly little summer associates  Sometimes I think they forget that this is actually a job interview.
I have a friend who smacks her gum, much like Britney Spears during the Matt Lauer interview  It bothers me more to listen to it than to look at it.

Ya think? One of them set up a phone conference for several people with an outside attorney and DID NOT SHOW UP for it!

She's a nice girl, but I'm counting the days.
Heck, two weeks from today I'll be in Italy on my HM... I'll just keep remembering that...

I hung up on another CPA today because he was eating while on the phone with me. I said "Call me back when you finish that sandwich..." and hung up. Then I ran and told my boss in case he called to complain  My boss knows I have an issue with hearing people eating in my ear...

Between that and the cell phone/txt messaging...
I do the hiring at my firm and I always tell my boss "We can't hire anyone under 25 anymore..."
**I am not saying EVERYONE under 25 is like this, just all the ones applying for accounting positions here...
All kidding aside, I have seen a trend in the 10 years I've been here.

Oh yes. I have done this as well. I won't talk to someone if they are chewing anything.
Funny story. I was at lunch and a co-worker called me and asked me if it was ok to talk. I said, "no problem, just let me swallow first".
