Office pet peeves
I just love it that we have a dept assistant that won't answer phones.
My direct boss is out today and every timer her phone rings, I pick up the call. It's not part of my job, I usually will answer just to help out.
But this woman can be oblivious.

Is she preoccupied??? There has to be a logical reason why shes not answering them. Is she literally just staring at the phone?

its more then just today. my boss has compalined about her. I know that she can be preoccupied, but she is mainly on personal calls.
Its just frustrating, so I'm venting.

I know what you are saying...
My receptionist is out today so I am pitching in to help....but there is also an Executive Asst who is the reception back up...yet, me, the HR Manager, is getting all the calls 
I hate it here.
 I would ask the assistant, (maybe in a casual way) - hey I don't mind helping out but you are killing me over here (and laugh). See how she reacts
