off-topic answers to questions
you post a question in a message board where people are like-minded and then their answers have nothing to do with the question
i visit another message board on being "frugal" and i posted a question... 99% of the replies i got on the thread were about their personal lives and not the simple question i asked.
sometimes, people make me
ok, vent over

Re: off-topic answers to questions
I like to add a story to my answer. Sometimes it can be helpful.
I also like when other peole do this for my posts.
Sorry you do not.

Re: off-topic answers to questions
Do you mean they totally go off topic, like you are talking about apples and they start talking oranges? Or is it just telling you their point of the story?

Re: off-topic answers to questions
no... don't get me wrong... additional info IS helpful
it's when the answers are ONLY anecdotal and NOTHING to do with the original question.
it's just that i had asked a serious question and none of the replies had anything to do with the question

I hear you. That IS very annoying. So, can I tell you about some oranges now? Just kidding.

Re: off-topic answers to questions
I can agree with this. I tend to add my own personal situation, but only if it's in relation to what's going on!

Re: off-topic answers to questions
I sometimes add my own similiar situation to a response so the person knows they are not alone or the only way who has gone through or experienced whatever they are posting about.
