Odd question..not sure it belongs here?

So for Christmas, I would like to get my mom a gift certificate for a painter. Is this even possible?? Her bedroom is in great need of a spackling and paint job. If we give her the cash to hire someone, she will hold on to it and wind up using it on something for her kids which I dont want her to do.

I would love to hire someone who would be open to come when she is ready to have it done. Is this even possible? Have you heard of such a thing? Can you recommend anyone..I am in Queens though. Thanks so much!!

Well, you could create a cute little gift certificate yourself and put it in a card. When she is ready to have the room painted you could meet the painter at your mom's house and pay the painter directly. Do you live near her that this is possible? Sorry, I don;t have a recommendation.

cant give you any recommendations, but this is a great idea. i would call local painters and ask. if they dont do gift certificates you can give your mom something at Christmas that tells her that you are hiring a painter to come in after the holidays and do the work that needs to be done.

Does your mom go away at all? If so, I would hire someone to come in while she was away and do it then... Its a nice surprise, and you dont have to worry about gift certs.... This is what we do for my grandmother, but its done more so bc she's often a wreck when she sees her house in disarray... lol
