odd cc letter

I get this general letter in the mail about a bank of america credit card and how theyre making changes to their cards etc. it says this is regarding your card ending in XXXX. yet i don't have a bank of america card Chat Icon

Sounds like spammers are going old-school and using USPS to do some scams.... This is a very popular on-line phishing scheme, but I'm not sure how it would work off-line? Chat Icon

Could it be an account you had with another bank that merged? DH had an mbna acct that is now with bank of america.

Call them, but don't use the phone number on that paper. Find their actual number online, even maybe their fraud hotline. If it is a scam, you may want to alert them to it.

I was going to say this, Bank of America used to be Fleet, Fleet used to be Nat West, etc.

Its happened to me that I've gotten one of those letters for a credit card I shredded and closed years ago, they just never closed the acct on their end.
