OB appts

If you're not having a sonogram, what does the doctor do at regular OB appts?

I was seeing an RE for the 1st 8 wks, then I switched over to a new OB at 11 wks. Since it was a new OB it was really just a consult. I weighed in, gave a urine sample, BP check and then the doctor gave me the run down on what to eat/not eat, gave me a script for bloodwork and a referral for the NT scan.

After the NT scan I met with a genetic counselor to go over the results and then I scheduled the 16 wk and 20 wk scans. (these are not done at my OB office)

I had already pre-scheduled OB appts for 15 and 19 wks. But now I'm wondering, does this make sense? And what does the OB actually do at these appts?

TIA

OB appts

Depending on what week your at & if there is a test you wld give blood. Reg OB visits are: Urine, BP, weight, fetal heart rate & some Drs. measure belly. Also any questions or concerns you may have.

I'm with the actual doctor for less than 10 minutes...super quick.

Urine sample is given before I walk into the room as well as weight check, blood pressure taken by the nurse, then the dr comes in and listens to the heart. She asks if I have any bleeding/cramping/questions. If not, i'm free to go. I've never had her measure my belly or anything.

But, so far my pregnance has been pretty normal (knock on wood) with no issues. If it weren't, maybe it would be different.

Exactly what I was going to write. I haven't had my belly measured either but I just think I'm not far along yet for them to do that (21 weeks).

OB appts

Pretty much what everyone else has said. The appointment is like 5 minutes long. Pee in a cup, weigh in, BP and then the Dr. listens to the heart beat and asks me if I have any questions. I found these appointments so annoying just because I was getting regular growth sonos that were 30 minutes long and with these appointments I felt like I was spending more time signing in than I was with the doctor.

Thanks for the responses! DH wants to go to as many appts as he can, but it doesn't really sound like he needs to go to these.

My SO does not come to these unless its

part of our errands for the day Chat Icon and he

is off. Personally I think a nurse can do the

whole appt but Dr's need the $$$$$$ and

if your not high risk of course.
