NYC teachers- questions
I have been hired/nominated for a teaching position recently, and human resources for the nycdoe emailed me to tell me I was nominated and directed me to a page to fill out a ton of forms for them. One of the forms, I-9, requires identification which cannot be provided online. Do I need to drive into brooklyn for that stuff? I wasn't sure if any of you are recent employees and know how this process works. The email is very vague and super confusing.
Thanks!

Yes, you have to go to 65 court st. I was just nominated as well and have to make a trip down there. Not looking forward to it!

Re: NYC teachers- questions
Congrats!
My answer won't really help you but yeah - the DOE stinks with this kind of stuff.
I have been there for almost 3 years and I have yet to fill out any of that paperwork. No one ever asked me to.
I filled out all the retirement forms but as far as the initial hiring paperwork - nope, never filled it out.
So much for having to ID myself.
Anyway, unless you are fairly close to Brooklyn I would take the train in. LMK if you need help with that.

I agree with taking the train. I drove in and it was a disaster - I had to pay a fortune for a garage just to park for 10 minutes.

Right? I start a new job in September and the only thing I know is that I'm teaching Kindgarten.

Do you know where you'll be teaching? Email the principal asking if you could pick up some materials. Also ask if they have coaches/team leaders you can contact.
