NYC Teachers: Does Anyone Know Anything About a Hardship Transfer Based on TRAVEL?
I know someone said there is a site to go to or a # to call and it costs $25 or it did years ago to get a printout of how long it would take on public transportation from where you live to your school. I know you have to be more then 1 and 1/2 hours away to get a travel hardship transfer. Does anyone know where to go/who to call to find out if you qualify?

www.hopstop.com is how the DOE determines travel hardships for students.
eta: I agree, ask your UFT rep if travel hardship transfers exist anymore. They might've gone out the window with seniority transfers.

Thanks, I thought that too! But then was told they still do:)
PS. According to Hop Stop, it would take me 3 hours and 18 minutes, well thats more then DOUBLE what qualifies, hummm...

If you are more than an hour and a half on public transportation from where you live you can TRY to get a travel hardship transfer.
